Do not waste your time, reinvent yourself if necessary!
If you have ever found yourself wandering around with no purpose or something to do daily, it is time to reinvent yourself. Self-introspecting is critical to identify your biggest strengths, weaknesses, interests, and passion. Find what you are passionate about and pursue that to your fullest capability. One of my colleagues once told me that it is important to enjoy my 20s, but I should also pray for wisdom to understand the difference between enjoying my youth and destroying my future. Do something meaningful about your life, do not just wake up in the morning and look your phone all day long. I have heard a lot of people saying that there are bored, boredom is a disease that eats your mind and poisons your vision. Never had the present felt as much as the future, opportunities are vast if you dig deep down or caste net further enough and learn!
Value over everything
The question that you should constantly ask yourself is how you can be valuable. Most entrepreneurs focus mainly on the monetary return rather than entertaining the question of value which is the fundamental root towards success. Be a responsible citizen. This does not only mean that you should be obedience, but also do something meaningful that adds values to the broader community. Most successful business ideas were born from asking a question of value rather than the obvious. In the words of Jordan Peterson, “It’s a luxury to pursue what makes you happy; it’s a moral obligation to pursue what you find meaningful.”
Quite a lot of people are not giving the world their authentic self. Do not pretend to be like another people, and be okay with not being invited, selected or considered. There is no greater admiration than being unique while embracing your values. Keep it real daily, do not try to fit in where you do not belong, you will be consumed and fail to live your life to the fullest. Do not tend to live outside your values because of fear of criticisms, instead, appreciate these criticisms and use them as steppingstone toward your continued development.
Numerous research has shown that most of the youth stresses originate mainly from being anxious about the future. The biggest principle here it to expect nothing and appreciate everything while having the zeal to work hard day-in and day-out. Likewise, although reflection is important, try not to dwell much on the past. The past can only serve you to extract information that can help you focus on the present while shaping the future. In the words of Lao Tzu “if you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.”
Take responsibility and accountability
Every action that we take has a consequence, either positive or negative. You should take full responsibility of your actions and be accountable for it. Your decision not to do anything about your live also has a consequence and the tragedy is that it somehow spills over to those around you and closest to you. It is like a game of dominos take, for instance, the career that you choose to do today, has greater consequences to those who will follow you, i.e., your children. So, going forward, do make hard decisions that have potential of turning your live upside-down for better, remember indecision is dangerous because other get to make that call for you. Taking full responsibility means that you understand that you are the only person who is in full control of your life unless otherwise
